Some quick tips if it's your first visit

Walt Disney World is the world’s largest theme park and features four major parks, plus water parks, golf courses, night-time attractions and shopping, it covers 47 sq. miles making it about the size of San Francisco or Greater Manchester in the UK. In addition to Disney, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure parks and Sea World should also not be missed. Entire books and web sites are dedicated to the planning of a successful trip to Orlando’s parks, and if you have been before then you will have a good idea of what to expect, but if it is your first time then here are a few simple tips to help you on your way:

  • Plan ahead – with so many things to see and do it is impossible to do them all in 1 or 2 week vacation, so plan your itinerary for each day of your trip and you will get to see and do much more
  • Extra Magic Hour - every morning, one of the four Disney parks opens early for Disney resort guests only and so are often best avoided for most of the day. Check the opening times for each park at www.disneyworld.com
  • Arrive early – it is cooler in the morning especially during the summer months and the parks can be less crowed in the first few hours of opening, especially so for Disney's water parks as they can become packed by midday
  • Take a break - the house is close to Disney so you can always come back home for an afternoon break when the day is at its hottest before returning in the evening to one of the night time shows
  • Fastpass – almost as good as sliced bread as a great invention and is free to use and saves you from standing in line for the most popular rides at Disney. Rides with a Fastpass allow you to book a time slot for later and so avoid the lines which can often exceed 2 hours at peak times! Universal also offer a similar system but this is an additional cost over the standard ticket
